Brownie Meeting - Cupcake Decorating

Emily had a Brownie meeting last night, and this time they learned how to use a piping bag to decorate cupcakes. They had to bake the cupcakes (at home) then decorate at the meeting.  I think they liked this one - they got to eat their creations.

Next meeting:  Christmas party!

Pixie Cut

I've been taking Eva to get her hair cut by a lady who lives close to the house. She does a good job, for simple cuts, but when we showed a picture, she just did the same cut again. So, I took her to a lady where I get my hair cut. I asked to her to make it a shorter version of what she had and to make it girly.  I think it was a success!

Horseback Riding

I purchased a horseback riding Groupon for the 4 of us. It was a good deal already, and I got an additional 20% off.  A bargain.  Emily was very nervous/excited about riding. She said a girl she knows broke her leg riding a horse. She did great though - the horses knew what they were doing.

My horse happened to be named Neaux-L.  What are the odds?

This is Emily right when she first got on. Scared.

Student of the Month

Eva came home last week with this student of the month certificate. One person from each class who best exhibits the IB (International Baccalaureate) learner profiles is selected by the teachers each month. The learner profiles include principled, knowledgeable, balanced, caring, risk-taker, inquirer, thinker, reflective, communicator, and open-minded.  And she has straight A's so far this year.  So proud of this girl!

Halloween

Halloween was eventful this year. The Friday before the kids were able to dress as book characters to school. Eva was Harry Potter and Emily was a Death Eater (these were their costumes for Halloween last year- reversed).  Eva looked so much like Harry with that short hair!

Trick or treating was moved to Friday night because of the horrible weather forecasted for Saturday night (and it came, tornadoes and all).  Emily dressed up as a Voodoo girl and Eva was Raven from Teen Titans Go!

The night ended at a friend's house with smores and fun. A good night for all!

Lion Up!

We met with friends and tailgated for Southeastern Louisiana University's homecoming.  It was a beautiful day with good friends, drink, kids, and Roomie the lion.

Photo with Roomie and the girls.

The girls. Do you see how many there are??? There are more, too!

Lion Up!

We did not go to the game--LSU played Florida at the same time.  There is no way David is going to watch SELU play over LSU, me neither for that matter.  It was a great day and LSU won (SELU did not)!

City Park

Eva and Emily went to a birthday party at the amusement park at City Park last weekend.  All of the kids had a great time. The weather was cool, and the park wasn't too crowded.

All of the kids who were at the party.

Another shot of the group, this time sitting on a live oak limb.

I didn't post pictures of kids on rides; that just gets repetitive.

Gleason Gras

Lisa and Mitch came in town to visit for Eva's birthday. We spent some time at Gleason Gras on Saturday.  It raises money and awareness for ALS.  It was a little cooler than we expected it to be, and the good music wasn't until later in the day (during the LSU game), so we only stayed a short while before going back home.

The girls got their picture taken with Sir Saint:

While Lisa and I had ours taken with Scott Fujita, former Saint for those of you who don't recognize him.

It was fun while we were there, and we all got some No White Flag clothing to take home.

Brownies

The first meeting was last night, a Bridging Ceremony, for those that were in Girl Scouts last year. The new girls got a welcome certificate and a pin for their vests.  Next year Emily will received patches for everything she participated in.

She's already participated in Arts and Crafts (Painting with a Twist), and next weekend is a theater workshop at Renaissance Festival (which is not open yet).  In November they will do the Corn Maze.

I think she is really going to enjoy getting to do all of these different activities that she normally doesn't get to do.  Some of them allow sibling to join in also, if they want.

This is before the ceremony.  She's really starting to look all grown up. Sniff.
