End of School Happenings

There were a few happenings at the end of the school year. Eva had her end of year dance, which was themed Hollywood...

Emily had a field trip to New Orleans Museum of Art...

We spent a family day in New Orleans for some Magazine Street shopping...

Awards day where Eva got an award for having a GPA between 3.5 and 3.99 (she had a 3.899) and Emily got an award for having a GPA between 3.0 and 3.49 (she had a 3.12 but hadn't received her award at the time of the picture).

Very proud of the two of them. On to 5th and 8th grades!

Piano Recital

Lisa and Mitch were in town for Emily's ballet, which happened to fall on the same weekend as their piano recital, so they got a 2 for 1 deal. The girls did great. I'll try to remember to post the video here later.

Ballet Recital

Emily had her ballet recital in May. They performed The Frog Prince, and it was great.

Ladies Beach Trip

Some of us ladies spent a long weekend in Orange Beach, Alabama. We spent 3 relaxing days on the beach with no kids to take care of. This is our only group picture:

New Addition

David has been driving around in a teeny-tiny car for too long. He got an upgrade...

Tampa / Universal Studios

We went to Tampa over Easter break to visit Lisa and Mitch. We had 3 or so days at the beach, 2 days at Universal, and basically hung out around Tampa. These pictures are in no order...

Ballet Awards

Emily recieved her 5th year ballet award and a pewter goblet. They get the goblet once they've been dancing there for 3 years and each year after. Emily has 3 plus I bought them each one a while back. That gives us a total of 5 goblets. Lol.

The class minus a couple of people who left before the picture was taken.
Emily is not the oldest in this picture. Not even close.

Girls Night

Eva's friend, Abigail, had a birthday last weekend. She invited a bunch of girls to go see the new Beauty and the Beast movie followed by dinner (pizza). They all had a great time and look pretty cute, too.

Discovery Bash

The company David works for is a major supporter of the Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy. They had a fundraiser gala Saturday night that we went to with some of his coworkers. It was a nice night and we had a good time. It's always nice to get dressed up and go out every now and then.

They had one of those dress up photo booths. In the top picture, I didn't realize it was about to take the photo, hence my stare...

Artsonia

The girls' school is an IB school, as I've mentioned before. Their school has a performing arts foundation. Each grade through 5th grade has one pull-out class with rotates every 6 weeks. It rotates between Spanish, PE, music, performing arts, computers and art. Once they get to 6th grade, they start a block schedule where one semester they take one class and change in the next semester.

Eva is in 7th grade, and has a block schedule like the high school. The first half of this year she took art, and this half she is taking music. During art class, they did a number of drawings, learning a specific style or whatever the teacher was teaching at that time. Her teacher puts all of their work on a website controlled by the parent or guardian (me).  The website is www.artsonia.com. You can see Eva's work at this link.

Her latest drawing was supposed to support a cause. You can see that she chose abandoned animals.

I love this drawing, but she didn't sign it! She definitely got better over the semester, and I love her teacher. She was a favorite among the students.
